This is an 8 hour class designed to give you the knowledge and skill to safely operate a boat on the water.  Upon completion and passing the final test, you will be able to obtain a Connecticut boating certificate.  The course is $25. 


Over the years there have been some changes to the program and certification. The Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation was added, and Emily’s Law was enacted, requiring that all boaters also obtain a Water Ski Towing Endorsement.  The 8 hour boater class now encompasses all three: the SBC, the CPWO, and the SWE materials.


The Connecticut Boating Course is mandated by the State of Connecticut for anyone over the age of 10 to operate watercraft.

Safe Boating Certificates are valid for life.
